Game Over - It’s time for us to move on.

TwifySoft was founded in late 2008 by Richey, Vanderlay and Mark, with the server SoftCores. At the time, reaching over 300 players online on SoftCores was an incredible milestone, and we expanded by launching IceChaw, which was just as successful. We launched ThunderFall and WarCore in early 2009, which didn’t last for long, and Hani joined the team.

A couple of months later Feloth was brought on to the team, who had built TwifBeef (a statistics fansite), to work with us as a web designer. Vanderlay was let go from the team due to inactivity, which didn’t align well with our future plans. We launched TwinForce in mid 2009. Richey left the team, as he moved to USA to study. TwinForce began a downwards trend, and was eventually closed down in early 2010.

ShadowCores, IceChaw and MoonHawk

We launched MoonHawk in 2010, a server with quite similar configuration as SoftCores. Conflicts arose within the team, and we parted ways with Feloth. MoonHawk lasted for three months, and at this point it was apparent to us that there was no way we could manage three servers at once.

In 2012, plans for a new era of TwifySoft emerged. It wasn’t going to be another third server this time. We were going to shut down SoftCores and launch its successor, ShadowCores. We turned TwifySoft from a hobby into a business. Despite ShadowCores not reaching more than 40 players online on its first day, we kept working on it, so much that we made 21 updates in June 2012, and over 50 updates in total throughout 2012. The road to success has been paved by a lot of hard work, we reached 1000 players online in October 2012; 1500 in January 2013; 2000 in August 2013. This could have kept going, but the end of 2013 was a turning point for several reasons.

ShadowCores and LunarForce

We’ve dealt with mountains of technical issues. We’ve dealt with countless DDoS attacks. We’ve dealt with the ungrateful part of the community. We’ve undoubtedly provided a high quality support service, both from ourselves through e-mail, but also from the voluntary tutors who have been available through the Help chat in-game.

We’ve communicated the current situation multiple times on the forums, so this may not come as a surprise to you. On January 21st 2016, ShadowCores and LunarForce will be shutting down. TwifySoft has sponsored both OTLand and the development of The Forgotten Server 1.0, which has ensured that there are other great servers that you can play on.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who have been important to us during this journey. Thanks to - Kornholi (GM Korn), Dalkon, Hector (GM Eddy), David (GM Vinnie), Siramix, Dyablo, and of course all you, our players. This would not have been possible without you, thank you for being a part of our community.

Update 2014-12-14, Christmas Time

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Changes:

  • Updated to game protocol 10.70. If you are unable to connect with the new version, please re-download the IP Changer from our website.

  • Santa Claus is in town! Don’t forget to visit Santa to pick up your present.
  • You can now say “kick” to Junkar on Robson Isle to get kicked off the steamboat in case it is being blocked.

ShadowCores Second Anniversary

Two years ago, we launched what ended up to be the beginning of a new era. Two years ago, we did not know how big our community would grow. With your help, we have accomplished things that no one thought was possible two years ago.

Today, Sunday, May 11th, we are extremely grateful that you have stuck with us for so long and we would be happy if you would like to join us on this joyful day to celebrate the second anniversary of ShadowCores. Update 2014-02-22, The power is MINE!

Ferumbras

Content changes:

  • The delay between messages for Ferumbras raid have been significantly increased. This should allow players who have not logged out in the area or been waiting there enough time to arrive at the tower.
  • The chance to break a jar in Horestis’ tomb has been decreased. Moreover, players who have logged out in the tomb will now login in temple.
  • Griffinclaw flower no longer blooms immediately after the server save. It has been changed to happen at a random time (daily).
  • Tutors can now mute players in Advertising, English Chat and World Chat for using the channels inappropriately.

Update 2014-02-04, Transfer Between the Worlds

Transfer between the worlds!

During the past two weeks, we have been communicating with the LunarForce community about changes we can implement to improve the PVP gameplay experience on LunarForce.

We have decided to begin by implementing the following changes to LunarForce:

  • Decreased bonus experience in party from 40% to 5%.
  • Reworked rates (mostly decreased, 1x after Level 400). You can see the new rates on LunarForce exp stages page.
  • Recalculated everyone on LunarForce’s experience with the changed rates and decreased bonus experience.

As not everyone on LunarForce is a fan of the changes, we have also opened transfers from LunarForce to ShadowCores. However, since we never intended to open transfers to ShadowCores initially – we don’t want to encourage everyone to transfer, it is just a last resort option if you can’t handle the changes on LunarForce. Transferring from LunarForce to ShadowCores therefore costs 60 shop coins, and is made possible after everyones experience on LunarForce has been recalculated.

To clarify about how stats changes will work when transferring:

  • Level/experience:
    • When transferring from LunarForce to ShadowCores, your level stays the same it was on LunarForce.
    • When transferring from ShadowCores to LunarForce, your level will be recalculated to what it would have been if you had been playing on LunarForce (similar formula to the level reductions on LunarForce).
  • Magic level/skills:
    • When transferring from LunarForce to ShadowCores, your magic level and skills will be increased to what they would have been on ShadowCores.
    • When transferring from ShadowCores to LunarForce, your magic level and skills will be decreased to what they would have been on LunarForce (like it currently works).

This means that if you transfer between the servers multiple times, your magic level and skills will stay around the same while your level may decrease significantly.

We look forward to hear more feedback on how we can make further improvements once you have played with the changes.

Update 2013-07-18, No Rest For The Wicked

Changes:

  • Updated to game protocol version 10.1. With this update, we have dropped support for 9.8 and 10.0 protocol and are forcing everyone to update to 10.1 due to new sprites.
  • Smooth walking animations!
  • Added new monsters: Blood Hand, Blood Priest, Elder Wyrm, Forest Fury, Gravedigger, Leaf Golem, Rorc, Shadow Pupil, Tarnished Spirit, Vampire Viscount, White Shade and Wilting Leaf Golem.
  • Added The Gravedigger of Drefia quest. With this, the new Hellgrip mount is now obtainable.
  • Drefia has been revamped and significantly expanded.
  • Ab'Dendriel has been revamped with new sprites. You can now also move around faster in Ab'Dendriel using the new lifts.
  • Added the Fury Dungeon and the Fury Gates.
  • Added a new hunting area north of Carlin.
  • Updated the corpses of all monsters that used to become dead human.
  • Revamped the Rotworm caves in Devourer (the desert surrounding Darashia).
  • Kha'labal (the desert surrounding Ankrahmun) has been revamped.
  • You can now hand in a Tome of Knowledge to Cael every 20 hours (used to be 24 hours).
  • NPCs will now finish their story if they are sending multiple messages to you even if you run away from them.

Transfers to LunarForce are now open!

Many of you have been wanting us to enable transfers from ShadowCores to LunarForce, and finally the time has come. Please note that transfers are optional, ShadowCores will stay open as usual.

LunarForce is our Hardcore-PVP server which is designed for players who love the PVP-aspect of the game. Compared to ShadowCores, it has lower experience, skill and magic level rates and also lower mana regeneration for mages. 

Transfering your character will cost 30 shop coins. The reason why we have chosen to have a fee for it is because certain limits should not be abuse. To make transfers avaliable to everyone, we chose 30 shop coins as it is the amount you recieve from a premium scroll that you can buy from other players in-game. Besides, you get a free name change along with the transfer, and the cost of a name change is 30 coins.

What are the terms of the transfer?

  • To avoid that you transfer a character that is not yours, the e-mail address registered on the ShadowCores account must match the e-mail address registered to the LunarForce account.
  • You can not transfer a character that is online, owns a house, is a leader of a guild, has a red or black skull, has over 10 000 000 bank balance, has items in any depot or inbox or has active market offers. This means that if your character for example owns a house, you will have to sell it in order to transfer your character.
  • Once you have transferred, you will not be able to regret your decision.

How will the transfer affect my character?

  • After much consideration, we have decided that your level and experience will not be affected by the transfer, you will have the same level on LunarForce. The reason for this decision is that the experience stages are the same on both servers after level 200, and that LunarForce has had more spawns free because of the lower player amount.
  • Because of the major differences in skill and magic level rates and with the lower mana regeneration in mind, your magic level and skills will be reduced to the level you would have had with the rates on LunarForce.
  • To maintain the economy of both servers, you will keep the items you have equipped, but you can not bring items inside any container and the maximum amount of money you are allowed to have in your bank is 10 000 000 gold coins.
  • Your character will keep any mount or addon it already has obtained.
  • Your quest-history will be preserved. 
  • You will lose your market history.
  • Your death list will be cleared.

Update 2013-06-30, Rottin Wood and the Married Men

Changes:

  • Added the Rottin Wood and the Married Men Quest. With this, the Rapid Boar mount is now obtainable.
  • Added Browse Field. This feature will only work for players connected with client 9.84 or higher.
  • Added the new guild emblems that show whether someone is a member of your guild or another guild. The new emblems will only appear for players connected with client 10.0 or higher.
  • Added the new summon symbol that show whether a summon belongs to you or someone else. The new summon symbols will only appear for players connected with client 10.0 or higher.
  • Added the new gray party shield symbol which indicates that a player is a member of a party. This new party symbol will only appear for players connected with client 10.0 or higher.
  • Added the new red lightning bolt symbol which appears on players with at least 5 members online in their guild or party. This new symbol will only appear for players connected with client 10.0 or higher.
  • Expanded the passage south of the Venore boat.
  • Monsters will now lose their target when the distance is at least 9 square meters between them (used to be 11 square meters).
  • Monsters will no longer deal damage to other monsters with their Area of Effect abilities.
  • Corrected the duration of the effect from chameleon rune. It now lasts for 200 seconds instead of 180 seconds.
  • Updated loot of the following monsters: Black Sheep, Deer, Pig, Quara Constrictor Scout, Quara Hydromancer Scout, Quara Mantassin Scout, Quara Pincher Scout, Quara Predator Scout, Sheep and Zombie.
  • Updated the look description of players with additional information about guild and party (amount of guild members, online members, party members and invitations).
  • Corrected Lost Berserkers explosion bomb radius and range.
  • Light Healing can now be used on level 8.
  • Fixed charges on garlic necklaces dropped by Blightwalkers.
  • Fixed a few missing item names.
  • Fixed a lot of map bugs.

Update 2013-06-09, 10.0 & Monster Enhancements

Changes:

  • You can now login using client version 10.0. Clients from 9.8 to 9.86 are still supported, and we don’t have any plans of implementing new PVP changes at this time.
  • Opened containers will now be sent to spectators when they connect in the cast system.
  • The griffinclaw flower can now only be obtained in Nargor by players who are on the task from Ceiron.
  • NPC Charlotta will now also react on the keyword “gold” for the Meriana quest.
  • Buckle can now be equipped on armor slot.
  • Corrected the look description of bonebreaker.
  • Corrected the look description of death ring.
  • Corrected the message when you get a whetstone.
  • Corrected the experience gained from Lizard Dragon Priest.
  • Corym Charlatan and Corym Skirmisher can no longer sense invisibility.
  • Reworked code in the cast system in an attempt to address client debugs.
  • Removed the duplicate entry of The Shattered Isles quest in questlog.
  • Removed the magic forcefields from the sea turtles that teleport you to the Laguna Islands.
  • Updated the loot of the following monsters: Carniphila, Deathbine, Earth Elemental, Kongra, Mutated Human and Mutated Tiger.
  • Added the missing hole so that you can access the new Hydra area on the mountain between Port Hope and Ankrahmun.
  • Fixed a bug with charges on the necklace of the deep reward from treasure chests.
  • Fixed so that mission 4 of Children of the Revolution can’t be sabotaged anymore.
  • Fixed a bug with Hand of Cursed Fate dropping empty potion flask instead of onyx arrow.
  • Fixed the shovel holes on Treasure Island.
  • Fixed a lot of map bugs.

We would also like to thank Rydera on ShadowCores (known as Moj mistrz on the forum) who has offered to help us to improve the monsters. His contributions to this update are the following changes:

  • Armadile: lowered melee damage, added healing and boosted haste speed.
  • Humongous Fungus: boosted melee damage, added poison to melee, boosted damage from earth shot, added poison beam, paralyze wave. Fixed poison field and invisible effect.
  • Plaguesmith: boosted melee damage, poison and earth ball damage. The earth wave has been shortened.
  • Blightwalker: added cursing bomb, green sparkles bomb, and paralyze hit. The drunk effect has been fixed.
  • Betrayed Wraith: raised the range of paralyze and fixed bubble wave and invisible effect.
  • Lost Soul: boosted melee damage, shortened death beam, removed big bubble bomb. Big clouds bomb is no longer targeting other creatures.
  • Hand of Cursed Fate: fixed mana drain, drunk and lifedrain effects. Corrected healing and holy resistance, and boosted haste speed.
  • Brimstone Bug: fixed melee poison damage, fixed wrath of nature effect and damage, fixed manadrain beam effect and damage, fixed earth wave effect.

  • Enslaved Dwarf: boosted melee damage, lowered large rock damage, added haste, exori explosion and red sparkes bomb. Fixed a lot of ability effects.
  • Lost Basher: added haste and shoot effects, boosted melee damage and corrected healing.
  • Lost Husher: added haste, mana drain bomb and earth explosion shoot effect. The damage from death smoke bomb was lowered, while the damage from death smoke beam was boosted.
  • Lost Thrower: added damage and shoot effect to the explosion bomb, lowered melee damage, corrected manadrain area, shoot effect and healing.
  • Ghastly Dragon: increased poison damage from melee hit, shortened hot water wave, added curse condition, lifedrain and healing. The paralyze effect was also corrected.
  • Grim Reaper: boosted beam damage and changed damage element to death damage.
  • Hive Overseer: added earth bubble bomb.
  • Infected Weeper: added paralyze spark wave.
  • Infernalist: added the explosion bomb that Infernalists use on themselves.
  • Ironblight: boosted melee, icicle and earth explosion damage. Added red shimmer bomb, haste and freeze condition.
  • Lost Berserker: boosted melee damage and added haste and healing. Fixed the explosion bomb area effect, and the drunk bomb shoot effect.

31st May to 3rd June: Double Experience Weekend!

A lot of players have asked for this for a long time, and because of recent technical difficulties and other issues that have occurred over the months, there will be a double experience weekend.

The double experience weekend begins on the server save of Friday, 31st May and ends on the server save of Monday, 3rd June. During this time you will receive twice as much experience from both monsters and quests!
